Welcome to Plan for Parents
Whether you began exploring careers and thinking about college opportunities in middle school or are just starting now, CollegeInCollege.org has everything you need to identify career choices and plan, apply and pay for education beyond high school.
Creating a personal strategic plan will help you achieve the lifestyle you want in the future by mapping out your goals and the steps you will take to achieve them. The first step in creating your plan is to get to know yourself — which careers suit your talents, interests, needs and values. We have created several fun self-assessments to help you think about just that.
Once you understand which careers may appeal to you, the next step is to ensure that your high school courses and plans for higher education are consistent with your career goals. While you may not know precisely what career you will pursue, you can decide now to work hard and take rigorous classes in high school so that you have lots of options for college when you graduate.
You may also want to start looking at colleges, including what programs of study they offer, and what they require to get in, including grade point average and coursework. You and your family will also want to take some time to review the alternatives to pay for education beyond high school. You can afford to go to college, so begin planning using the financial aid portion of this Website.
Finally, remember that there are other resources available to you — your guidance or career counselor, a mentor, friends, church or family members that have attended college. There may also be programs at your school that assist students with career and education planning so keep looking and asking!
