About Distance Learning

Distance learning is similar to classroom study. But your interaction with the teacher and classmates is via the Internet, video link or videotape, or correspondence. Read more about distance learning at the FAQ page.

Classes are scheduled just like normal classes and have the same academic standards, syllabus, materials and assessment. However, classes are often smaller than a normal class and may involve more interaction.

Am I Ready for Online?

Distance learning requires good study and time management skills. Since you manage your own daily work and the class never actually "meets," you won't receive face-to-face motivation. However, the interaction is there for you — just in a different way.

What Do I Need?

For an online, web-based course, you'll need a computer, Internet access and typical software applications like a web browser and office programs. For other distance modalities the course catalog will tell you exactly what you need.
