Almost every student is eligible for some form of financial assistance for college —
grants,
scholarships,
loans loans or some combination of these.
In order to be considered for federal and state funding as well as some institutional and private funding, a student must complete the
Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) every year. You must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen to complete this application process. The FAFSA is processed by the U.S. Department of Education and the resulting information will be sent to your college. Your college will then evaluate the information to determine the types of financial aid you are eligible to receive.
Use the
Financial Aid Award Estimator (FAAE) to research the cost of attendance at each school in Colorado as well as the types of financial aid you may be eligible to receive.
While eligibility for most types of financial aid is determined by completion of the FAFSA, scholarships offered by private organizations, some institutional scholarships (such as athletic and merit based scholarships, grants for international students and private grants) may not require completion of the FAFSA.
If you are not a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen, check with college personnel to ask what types of financial assistance they may be able to offer you and how to apply. Also, be sure to check our list of
scholarships and scholarship searches for funding you may be eligible to receive.
