Financial Aid Award Estimator (FAAE)

The Financial Aid Award Estimator is a tool you can use to help you determine if you are a dependent or an independent student, how much it may cost to attend a particular college as well as give you an estimate of what types of financial aid you may be eligible to receive.

Getting Ready to Run the FAAE

Here is what you can expect the Financial Aid Award Estimator to calculate for you:

In order to fully explore how much money you may receive to pay for school, gather a few pieces of information from your parents (dependent students) or from your own household records (independent students):

  • Expected living arrangements while at school (you can experiment with selecting on-campus, off-campus or living with parents)
  • Residency status
  • Number of people in parents' household
  • Number of people attending college in parents' household
  • Your adjusted gross income
  • Your untaxed income and benefits
  • Your parents adjusted gross income
  • Your parents untaxed income and benefits

Run the Financial Aid Award Estimator

Answer each question on the first two screens as completely as possible. Results appear on the third screen. Remember, the results from the estimator are only that — an estimate. Contact the colleges' financial aid office to discuss your aid eligibility.

Interpreting the Results from the FAAE

When the results screen appears, click on items listed on the left side to view a detailed explanation for that item.
