You need to find out what will be required by the colleges to which you are applying and be sure to complete and file the forms by the stated deadlines. You don't want to spoil your chances for admission or financial aid by neglecting to file the right forms on time!
Find out and comply with each college's admission and financial aid application deadlines.
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) in order to qualify for aid through the federal government. Plan to file it by February 1 of the year you will enroll in college (provide estimates if tax forms are not yet complete).
Complete by the specified deadlines any additional college-specific financial aid forms that may be required.
If required by your college choices, complete the College Board PROFILE application for financial aid.
Review the Student Aid Report (SAR) you'll receive on the basis of your completed FAFSA and make any necessary changes in the data as soon as possible.
Review the CSS Acknowledgment you'll receive after you complete the PROFILE.
