Be sure to note on the FAFSA, PROFILE, and any other required aid forms exceptional circumstances that apply to your case. For example, some families are dealing with major medical expenses or have elderly relatives living with them. Some families even experience a job loss during the time when EFC is being calculated. Circumstances such as these can have a major impact on your financial situation that might not be apparent to those calculating your EFC unless you share the information.
